Great video. thanks. I suggest gathering a half dozen or more ants in a jar with some alcohol in it. Take this to the local county agricultural extension office, if you have one, for positive identification. There are some 30 varieties of Carpenter Ants, some very large (among the largest ants in North America, and some are smaller, all Carpenter Ants. It is always good practice to "know thy enemy." Actually, Carpenter Ants can combat termites! Note that some extension personnel are not always as aware of natural and safer controls like boric acid and watermellon and thus may be inclined to recommend harsher chemicals. I stick to my (safer) "guns," so to say. I'll post my results following your suggestions.

I am in the state of Ohio in the United States, and we have buckeyes here, which are not edible as far as I know. I live in an area with some trees that are not densely packed, but I have seen acorns and they are the smaller kind. There are a lot left behind that look old that still have the caps on probably because the squirrels know they’re not the best quality. I think I have also seen some capless ones that look like they have been laying on the ground for a while and got cracked open and those ones are really dark. I don’t know if this is the correct season. Perhaps in a few months, the ones that are still growing on the trees will fall and then I can check them out and it’ll be me and the squirrels fighting over food. 😂 thank you for sharing this video. I saw a silent video from 1933 showing a Native American woman preparing their bread out of the acorn flour, but she got it white. And immediately after it was flour with the tannins removed, she didn’t dry it. But she just used the water to bind it and cook it on hot stones. She flipped them with two hand carved wooden spatulas, and she filtered the water out with gravel and a pine needle branch and cheese cloth. Since the flour was already ground when she was cleaning out the tannins, she didn’t even bother to dry out the flour because she used it right away in the wet state to make her small bread patties. I don’t know how they tasted, but she got quite a few and she was definitely an expert. It was a silent film, so they were captions, explaining what was going on. Apparently people from all over the world have been using acorns as a staple of their diet for thousands of years. We need to eat like our ancestors.

Were you invested with carpenter ants, did you have damage to your house? We have seem them off and only, the most was four in our house on a single day. But they show much once in awhile. Not sure if we are invested or not, but have read they do a lot of damage.

Note that starvation is a far more minor emergency than an extreme allergic reaction or food poisoning. Your body can survive weeks without food, but it only takes a handful of the wrong berries or misidentified mushrooms to quickly become incapacitated. When in doubt, just keep looking until you find plants in the area that you already know are edible.

I want to tell you how to peel the husk from oak. First, take approximately a kilo or less of oak on a large pot, I mean a large wall, and leave it on the fire after filling it with water and leave it for about half an hour or less. After that, you peel the husk with your hand. Then you see the husk cleaned by the oak fruit. I mean there is a crust on its fruits. It separates from the strong main peel, then you eat the oak free of the double peel, I mean, I mean it is ready to eat, please try this. You do not need to leave the fire because it usually explodes and burns. I mean you pour a quantity of water on large walls and fill the walls with a small amount of oak and leave it on the fire for about half an hour as needed and after that you see the oak fruit peeled and clean. You just have to cut the oak and eat the fruit. After this process you can cut it with juicer or something else or You make flour from it, and you use it as bread. In this way, the oak does not explode, is not burnt, or is not strong. It is soft to eat.

It sounds soooo dumb, but some of the best paracord can be found cheaply at Michael's and Hobby Lobby and is 100% Made in the USA. Nothing wrong with using it as bowstring. Shit's good for it. that Wal-Mart crap, or even the stuff at hardware stores is cheap, Chinese garbage. I made the mistake of trying some and I wouldn't use that crap for clothesline.
